UPF sun protection rating is a method of rating that indicates how effective a product is in protecting you from harmful UV rays. The system was developed by the Australian government, in part because Australia (with its high level of exposure to the sun) has the highest incident of skin cancer in the world. The UPF sun protection rating table is as follows: UPF 15–24 (“Good”) provides protection from 93.3% to 95.9% of UV rays, UPF 25–39 (“Very Good”) provides protection from 96.0% to 97.4% of UV rays and 40 and over (“Excellent”) provides protection from 97.5% or more of UV rays.
