  • Treatment used to enhance the moisture transfer properties of fabrics, for added wicking and evaporation.
  • A treatment used to enhance the moisture transfer properties of fabrics. EC2® treatment boosts wicking and evaporation in fabrics during intense athletic activity. EC2® treatment is often utilized to maximize the performance of base layers, under garments and lightweight athletic T-shirts. Activities such as hunting, hiking, and general exercise are made more comfortable when performed in an EC2® treated garment.

Egyptian cotton is then spun into yarns that produce higher threads counts, which are desirable in sheets and fine apparel.
  • A three-part temperature rating system used by some outdoor gear manufacturers. Sleeping bags with an EN 13537 rating are assigned three distinct temp ratings according to a standardized laboratory test. • Used in footwear, Engage® is a compression-molded EVA midsole that’s lightweight and durable. It distributes pressure and provides reliable, long-term cushioning.
  • A microporous coating that provides superior water resistance with excellent breathability. Entrant coating’s honeycomb structure extends deep into fabric, allowing internal moisture to dissipate and blocking rain on the outside. Entrant is also coated with a durable water repellent finish that forces water to bead and roll off.
  • A laundering process that uses enzyme additives to break down the fabric and give it a worn appearance and desirably soft hand. Enzyme washing is a popular technique to use on denim and also on fabric made of Lyocell. Similar to stone washing, enzyme washing is less damaging to fabric and is sometimes called bio-washing.
  • EPIC by Nextec® is a patented weatherproofing process used in garments for outdoor wear, performance sports and military applications. Unlike laminates or coatings, Nextec® encapsulates individual fibers in a silicone-like substance to render them water resistant, windproof, breathable and washable. EPIC by Nextec® dries in minutes and does not absorb odors.
  • EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate) is a light, soft and flexible polymer used to cushion shoes, boots and orthotics. A cross-linked foam, EVA is made up of hundreds of thousands of foam cells that contain air or gas. Because repeated impact causes EVA to lose some of its rebound resilience, many shoe manufacturers have developed compression-molded EVAs, which help the EVA last longer.
