These are the best hiking boot I have found yet for the job. I have been on sum of the harshest ground north central Pa has to offer and these boots take it. This is my 2ed pair and thay last 2 to 3 years. If you do any kind of hiking from light trails to the most rugged these are the boots to have.

By Hikermom from Twin Falls, Id on 10/21/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable Cons: My toes did get cold Best Uses: Day Hiking, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Adventurer wanna be Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I am a female with a big foot and foot issues so I always have to go quite a bit bigger in size to get enough room in toe box. While there may be other boots out there that have a roomier toe box, I really like the quality of this boot. I was a little disappointed that my toes were cold even with a liner and two pair of socks. However, I may not have had the right socks for the weather. These were a replacement boot for ones that were too small - same brand. They are keepers.

They are comfortable and seem pretty stout.

Would work for day hiking, but is a bit of overkill, given the substantial support and stiffness.
